Ray Saunders

Ray Saunders, of East Lynne, Missouri was born March 13, 1935 the son of Perry and Mahala (Scott) Saunders. He departed this life on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the Belton Regional Medical Center, Belton, Missouri at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 30 days.
On August 25, 1962, Ray was united in marriage to Sandra Beth Hacker in Kansas City, Missouri.
Ray was employed as a painter for General Motors Leed's Plant, Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1989. Later he was employed as a custodian for the Harrisonville Community Church and the Harrisonville Christian School. Ray loved to watch NASCAR, Green Bay Packers Football, Kansas Jayhawks Basketball and Kansas City Royals Baseball. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and attending the grandchildren's activities.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Saunders on February 23, 1997; two brothers, Dean Shirley and Perry Saunders; two sisters, Emma Hogan and Sadie Kreeger.
Ray is survived by two sons, Ray Scott Saunders and wife Kim, Russell Brian Saunders and wife Monica; a daughter, Regina Leidig and husband Kevin all of Harrisonville, Missouri; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Horace Saunders, Riverton, Kansas; two sisters, Ellen Conway, Naples, Florida and Addie Atkinson, Baxter Springs, Kansas; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Harrisonville Community Church, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Clearfork Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
