Ret. Staff SGT. Charles E. Addison of Garden City, Missouri was born April 30, 1938 in Newnan, Georgia the son of Jim and Beulah Ann (Parker) Addison. He departed this life on Sunday, January 9, 2010 at Benchmark Healthcare of H arrisonville, Missouri at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 9 days.
On August 17, 2005, Charles was united in marriage to Myrah Louise Newby in Kansas City, Missouri.
Charles was a retired Air Force veteran reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant until his retirement. He had served his country in Vietnam. He later was employed as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1992. He was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed singing karaoke and playing the lottery. Charles had lived in Belton and Peculiar before moving to Garden City in 1994.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, James E. Helms and a sister, Martha Jean McKenzie.
Charles is survived by his wife, Myrah L. Newby of the home; his daughter, Robin McKinnis and husband, Randy, Lee?s Summit, Missouri; a step-son, Ralph L. Masters, Independence, Missouri; three step-daughters, Deborah A. Helms, Lee?s Summit, Missouri, Linda L. Reynolds, Garden City, Missouri, Sheri K. Tovar and husband, Ponciano, Kansas City, Missouri; 3 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren, a great-grandchild; 24 step great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Addison, Newnan, Georgia; a sister, Shirley Riggs, Independence, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Celebration of Life Services were held Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Cremation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
