Ret. USMC Gunnery Sgt. John Dale MacDonald, of Belton, Missouri was born October 2, 1934 at Fort Riley, Kansas the son of Clifford D and Ruth (Pierce) MacDonald. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Beautiful Savior Nursing Home, Belton at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 1 day.
On May 25, 1972, John was united in marriage to Victorene Earial Mason in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
John was a Gunnery Sergeant for 28 years in the United States Marine Corps until his retirement. He had received his masters for the Kansas City Art Institute. John was a member of the Heartland Family Ministries formerly First Baptist Church, Belton, Missouri, taught Art at Heartland Christian Schools and was former president of the Harrisonville Fine Arts Association. He designed and painted the stage scenery for the Passion Play the was presented for 15 years as well as Christmas Land for 30 years at the church. John painted sets for plays at Raytown South High School and Heartland Christian Schools and won some awards for set designs.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ret. USMC Gunnery Sgt. Victorene "Vicky" MacDonald on October 13, 2010 and his daughter, Ruth MacDonald.
He is survived by friends and family.
Cremation with a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.
Services are under the care of Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
