Rev. Billy D. Hines

Billy Duane Hines, 79, Archie, MO, was born in the Northeast part of Kansas City, MO, on August 27, 1937, to Rolla C. Hines and Delma (Grindstaff) Hines. He graduated from Northeast High School. Upon graduation he served in the United States Coast Guard.
In 1958, he and Judith G. Porter were united in marriage until her death in 1975. In 1974, Billy was licensed to preach and later ordained to the Gospel ministry through the Southern Baptist Convention. Bill was a graduate of Christ Unlimited Bible Institute. He attended Midwestern Baptist Seminary. He served churches in Missouri City, MO, Strasburg, MO, Carbondale, KS, and Centerville, MO.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Judith Hines, and his brother Jimmy Victor Hines, as well as, a granddaughter Charity Hodge.
In 1976, he married Carol F. Hines in Harrisonville. She survives. Also, surviving are his daughter, Teresa (Jerome) Hodge, Olathe, KS; his son Billy Duane (Kim) Hines II, Topeka, KS; a sister, Dixie (Mike) Greer, Lawrenceville, GA; three grandsons: Joshua Hines, Springfield, MO; Jeremiah (Stephanie) Hodge, Olathe, KS; Lucas Hines, Topeka, KS; two sisters-in-law: Eldora Cantrell, Harrisonville, MO and Glenda Parker, St. Peters, MO, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Bill was a member of Altona Baptist Church. He has been a volunteer for several years with the Auxiliary of Cass Regional Medical Center until his health forced him to stop.
Bill never met a stranger. He knew every family, almost without exception, in the areas where he served as pastor. He served as pastor to many that never darkened the door of his church. He loved the Lord and loved people. His love and influence will continue to be felt for many years to come.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater St. Louis.
