Richard 'Dick' Williams

RRichard A. “Dick” Williams, 74, of Pleasant Hill, was born April 5, 1940 in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Charles Bolton and Allene Arie (Allen) Williams. He departed this life at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at his home surrounded with love and family.
Dick attended the Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri. He was a proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran.
On April 22, 1961, he was united in marriage to Sharon Ruth Elliott in Peoria, Illinois.
Dick was employed as a manager for the B&M Auto Supply store for many years; later he purchased the store and he and Sharon owned and operated it as A&W Auto Supply store in Buckner from 1989 to 1999. Following his retirement from A&W he worked for the Blue & Gray Convenience store in Lone Jack.
He was active with the Boy Scouts; he was a member of the Tribe of Mic-o-Say, was the leader of Troop #300, Pleasant Hill in the early 1980’s; and served as Camp Master for 1 year at the H. Roe Bartle Boy Scout Camp in Osceola, MO. In the 1970’s he was a member of the Pleasant Hill Civil Defense.
He was strong in his faith. He was a past Sunday School Leader giving lessons at Bristol Manner, was a proud member of the Peacekeepers, and a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Larry Creighton.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; one daughter Cyndi Allen and her husband Roger of Pleasant Hill; one son Allen Williams of the home; one sister Sandra Sue Carter and her husband Phil of Blue Springs; one granddaughter Allison Nicolle Hamrick of Ohio; other relatives; and many friends.
Visitation was held Friday, June 27, 2014, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Reverend Wyatt Shanks will officiate. Interment will be in the Staley Mound Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Pleasant Hill V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers are Phil Carter, Keith Hicks, Garry Lingenfelter, David Williams, Jim Chappell and Jerry Thompson. Honor casket bearers are Don Kelch, Howard Collins, Larry Seelinger, J.R. Smith, Harvey Sprinkles and Dan Daughtery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Grace Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
