Richard L. Allman, 62, of Harrisonville, Mo. passed away at his home on Jan. 26, 2016. Richard was born on Sept. 14, 1953 and grew up in south Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Center High School in 1971.
In 1975 he graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a BFA in art. He served in the United States Army until 1978. He earned an MFA from Texas Tech University in 1981. He was an art instructor at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) for four years. He taught art in the Kansas City Missouri School District from 1993 - 2011.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Peterson, painting professor emeritus at UCM, and his parents Minnie and Richard T. Allman.
He is survived by his beloved Miniature Pinscher, Frieda; his sister, Rebecca Garner (Houston) of Belton, Mo.; niece, Mary Bunting (John) of Amana, Iowa; nephew, Andrew Garner (Mary) of Columbia, Mo.; and a great-niece and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard Allman and Margaret Peterson Three Dimensional Art Scholarship at Northwest Missouri State University.
