Richard L. Wehmeyer

Richard Lee Wehmeyer passed away peacefully June 10, 2016 at Saint Joseph Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri, with his wife and daughter by his side. Richard was born October 18, 1929 in Bogard Township to John Forsyth and Bonnie Leeota Farnsworth Wehmeyer. He graduated from Blairstown High School in 1947. In July of 1951 he enlisted in the US Air Force serving 4 years. Honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
On September 6, 1953 Richard was united in marriage to Alta Mae Neill spending their lives together farming in the Creighton, Missouri community. To this union one child was born, a daughter, Cheyenne Wehmeyer Callwell.
Richard was the last surviving child of John F. and Bonnie L. Wehmeyer. Richard was also preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Richard is survived by his wife, Alta of the home, daughter and son-in-law, L. Craig and Cheyenne Callwell, grandsons, Jon Michel Jackson (Jessica), James R. Hargrove (Amanda) and Rex Lee Jackson and many great-grandchildren.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, Creighton, Missouri.
Family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at the church.
Private family inurnment will be held at the Grant Cemetery near Creighton with Military Honors.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Creighton, Missouri.
Services are under the care of Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
