Richard P. Polzin

Richard Paul Polzin of Lee’s Summit, Missouri was born August 18, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of Paul Leo and Edith Jeannette (Parker) Polzin. He departed this life on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 26 days.
On September 8, 1968 Richard was untied in marriage to Patricia Janet McGowan in Raytown, Missouri.
Richard was employed as a supervisor for the United States Postal Service at the downtown post office for the past 35 years until his retirement in 2008. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, flying, traveling hunting and taking long drives. He was a 1961 graduate of Creighton High School and had lived in Creighton before moving to Lee’ Summit, Missouri.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his two brothers, Larry and Keith Polzin.
Richard is survived by his wife, Pat Polzin of the home; three sons, Paul E. Polzin and wife, Jackie, Raytown, Missouri, R. Douglas Polzin and wife, Julie, St. Louis, Missouri, John W. Polzin and wife, Olivia, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Mason, William, Ethan, Natalie, Carter and Ada Grace; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Burial is in the Lutheran Cemetery, Creighton, Missouri.
