Robert Eugene “Bob” Johnston of Harrisonville, Missouri was born February 14, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Fergus and Myrtle Mae (Stroud) Johnston. He departed this life on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 21 days.
On March 7, 1964 Bob was united in marriage to Elizabeth Louise Voges in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bob was employed as a chemical engineer for Allied Signal, Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1996. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Aerospace Union, Kansas City and the NRA. Bob was an amateur photographer, was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Western movies. He was a graduate of the Missouri School of Mines, Rolla, Missouri with a degree in chemical engineering. Bob had lived in Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville in 1999. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Lornie.
Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth L. Johnston of the home; two sons, Robert E. Johnston and wife, Johnna, Cleveland, Missouri, David M. Johnston and wife, Michelle, Independence, Missouri; three daughters, Lisa Roethler, Raytown, Missouri, Julie Andrews and husband, Terry, Holden, Missouri, Karen Calvin and husband, John, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren, John (Sarah), James, Kayla, Breanna, Danielle, Nick, Rachael, (Randy), Alan, Abby, Lynda (Jimmy), Jessica Renae, Jessica Lynn, J.P., Bryce and Jillian; three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Kaley and Jamie; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
