Robert Howard “Bob” Wray, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born January 8, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Robert Earl and Leona May (Howard) Wray. He departed this life on Friday, February 24, 2012 at his home surrounded by family at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 16 days.
On May 20, 1950, Bob was united in marriage to Patricia Josephine Warner in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bob was employed as a Toll Repair Technician for Southwestern Bell, Kansas City, Missouri for 35 years until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville. Bob was a member of the CWA Local #6632, the Peculiar Lions Club where he served as president in 1967 and served on the Raymore-Peculiar School Board for several years. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, cutting wood for the winter and pulling his grandchildren in the wagon behind the tractor. Bob lived in Peculiar before moving to Harrisonville in 1988. He was of Delaware and Cherokee descent and a member of the Red Star Intertribal Gourd Dance Society. Bob will be remembered as a loving and generous husband, father and grandfather.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Britton.
Bob is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Patricia Wray of the home; six children, Sharon LaRoussa and husband Bob, Raymore, Missouri, Debbie Wray, Peculiar, Missouri, Bob Wray and wife Kelly, Steven Wray and wife Cheryl all of Harrisonville, Missouri, Mike Wray and wife Kathy, Garden City, Missouri, Matt Wray and wife Skyla, Clinton, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Charles Wray and a sister, Sarah Schmaltz; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Red Star or to Grace Hospice.
