Robert Philip Raffurty

Robert Philip Raffurty, 73, of Cottonwood, Arizona, formerly of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Saturday, February 2, 1940, in Pleasant Hill, the son of Philip and Sarah (Snow) Raffurty. He departed this life Monday, September 9, 2013, at the John C. Lincoln-Dear Valley Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.
On October 10, 1964, he was united in marriage to Gerry Ellen Grey in Hardin, Missouri.
Bob owned and operated his own lawn service company in the Kansas City Area for many years. He had also worked for Allis-Chalmers, R.B. Industries, and taught in the Grain Valley School district. During his entire career he also farmed on the side.
He was a member of the Jewel Lodge #480 A.F. & A.M., Pleasant Hill, and the Elks Lodge #1361 in Cottonwood.
Robert had an unbelievable moral compass and always knew the right thing to do and say. He had a strong sense of conservation of nature and was kind hearted to animals and humans alike. His life goal once he had children was to make sure his children’s life turned out better than his own. Dad was many things to many different people but most of all he was a remarkable father.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother James Hall Raffurty.
He is survived by one son Michael (and Tammy) Raffurty of Sterling, Colorado; one daughter Connie Weddington of St. Louis, Missouri; two Grandchildren, Randa (and Ryan) Bailey of Harrisonville, Missouri, and Chelsea Raffurty of Sterling; three great grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
Cremation has been accorded. No services are scheduled at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
