Rochelle A. Gray

February 11, 1956 — January 7, 2017

Rochelle Anita Gray, 60, of Pleasant Hill, was born February 11, 1956, in Harrisonville, the daughter of J.W. and Juanita J. (Goble) King. She departed this life Saturday, January 7, 2017, at her home.
Rochelle was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School, Class of 1974, later attending Longview College.
On July 31, 1976, she was united in marriage to Mark A. Gray in Pleasant Hill.
When Rochelle was younger she had been employed by the IRS, Colonial Hatchery, and Skagg Drugs, but became a full time homemaker after her children were born. When her children were older she rejoined the work force and was employed by the Hoover School system as a cook and then with Big B / CVS where she enjoyed interacting with people of all ages. Rochelle was a born again Christian and was a founding member of the Big Creek Baptist Church, where she was actively involved in many aspects of the church; most notably as a Sunday school teacher for the Homebuilders Class and recently the Kid’s Splash program. Prior to her Father passing she had assisted with Sunday morning worship services at the P. Hill Healthcare Center. She was a member of the Cass County Sheriff’s Auxiliary and the Cass County Cattleman’s Association. As a former Cub Scout Den mother, she was very proud that 5 of the 8 boys that started in her den went on to become Eagle Scouts. At the same time she was a Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop where 4 of her girls received the highest award, The Gold Award. Rochelle actively supported the Hoover High School band by fitting and sewing uniforms and chaperoning on many trips with her two sons. Rochelle loved to cook and try new recipes to share with family and friends along with sewing, crocheting, and crafting where many of her projects were given to all the special people in her life. Rochelle as a child went camping often at various lakes with her family; that led to a lifelong love for the water. She then passed that love onto her children and dozens of other kids that spent time at the Gray’s lake house. Rochelle loved to travel, meet new people, and see all sorts of things, new and old, for ideas for her projects. She was fortunate to have visited many places across the US and beyond. She most enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Rochelle was preceded in death by her father, J.W. King in 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Mark of Pleasant Hill; three children, Jason (and Lisa) Gray of Holden, Leanne Gray of Pleasant Hill, and Ryan Gray (and fiancée Carolyn) of Lee’s Summit; her mother, Juanita King of Belton; two brothers, Tim (and Julie) King of Belton, and Kerry (and Sarah) King of Raymore; 10 grandchildren, Mason, Mercedes, Graycie, Abby, Chance, Silas, Zophia, Alex, Brittany, and Caillum; other relatives and a host of many, many friends.
