Roger Paul Carter, 46, Carl Junction, Missouri died June 9, 2011. Roger was born May 5, 1965 to Raymond and Charlotte Carter, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Roger attended Clinton, Missouri schools, graduating in 1983. He earned seven varsity letters in football, basketball and track and was voted "Most Athletic" in his senior class. Roger attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg and was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He began his teaching career at Sherwood High School in 1989 where he remained for 10 years. From 1999-2005, Roger taught and coached in Joplin. In 2005, Coach Carter became a CJ Bulldog.
While teaching at Sherwood, Roger met Sherri Morris, a kindergarten teacher. They married on July 13, 1991.
Roger enjoyed fishing, coaching at all levels, and attending his children's athletic events. Roger had fond memories of all of his "boys" who were like family, each given a special nickname assigned to them lovingly by him. He loved to share game stories with friends and family especially those involving Caitlyn and Cole.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Keith Morris, and brother-in-law, Michael Morris.
Roger is survived by his wife, Sherri, children, Caitlyn and Cole of the home, his father, Ray Carter, Carl Junction, his mother, Charlotte Hendricks, Jasper, Georgia, mother-in-law, Bonnie Morris, two sisters, Cathy Coquyt of Gladstone, Missouri and Carin Gosch and her husband, Bret, of Webb City, Missouri as well as several very special nieces, nephews, and cousins and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Heart Of Life Church, Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Education Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
