Seth J. Powell

Seth Jason Powell, 25, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born December 5, 1988, in Harrisonville, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, July 26, 2014, at his home in Pleasant Hill.
Seth was a gifted heavy machinery operator as well as a gifted carpenter. He loved working with his hands and was able to fix or make anything when his came to his carpentry skills.
In his spare time he loved fishing and hunting and was an avid guitar player. He also loved working on cars and motorcycles. He was also a mule rider and especially loved a good Barbeque. Seth loved life and loved to have a good time.
Seth is survived by his parents Jimmy and LeAnne (Atkinson) Gerken of Pleasant Hill; his biological father James R. Powell, of Harrisonville; four children, Brody James Powell, Mandy Frances-Hope Powell, Kamia Paige Kirkland, and Zoie Raeann Cates, all of Pleasant Hill; six siblings, Amy (and Justin) Elliott and Jimmy (and Courtney) Powell, all of Garden City, David (and Taisha) Powell of Creighton, Cara (and Austin) McMilian, and Makayla (and Tyler) Wilhite all of Pleasant Hill, and Brittany Powell of Belton; paternal grandfather James Powell of Garden City; paternal grandmother, Linda Powell of Adrian; maternal grandfather Marvin Atkinson of Archie; maternal grandmother Shara (and John) Flanery of Archie; paternal step-grandmother Judy Vest of Pleasant Hill; several aunts and uncles; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of many, many friends.
A Visitation was held Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the funeral home. Pastor Preston Sanders of the Strasburg Baptist Church will officiate. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers are Chad Clark, Tim Corn, Mike Payne, David Powell, Jimmy Powell, Austin McMilian, Tyler Thompson, and Tyler Wilhite.
