Sherry L. Lankford

Sherry Louise Lankford, 71, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born August 3, 1943, in Myrtle, Missouri, the daughter of Hanford Lloyd Payne and Juanita Irene (Fette) Payne. She departed this life Sunday, February 1, 2015, at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a 1961 William Chrisman High School graduate.
On April 14, 1962, she was united in marriage to Lynne Thomas Lankford in Sugar Creek, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2012.
Sherry was a homemaker while the kids were growing up. Later she was employed as a receptionist for Faulkner, Glover, and Dyer Physician’s offices in Warrensburg, Missouri. She loved reading, growing flowers, traveling with friends, needle point, caring for her dog, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Lone Jack Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and attending Bible Study.
She is survived by her father Hanford Payne of Oakley, Kansas; her son John Brad (and Lorie) Lankford of Pleasant Hill; her daughter Kristin Hines of Blue Springs, Missouri; four grandchildren Devin Lankford of Lone Jack, Missouri, Tyler Hines of Arlington, Virginia, Jill Hines of Louisville, Kentucky, and Thomas Hines of Blue Springs, Missouri, other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded. No services are scheduled at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
