Mrs. Shirley Ann Hogan, of Grandview, Missouri, was born April 22, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Edward Charles and Viola Ann (Hutchens) Smith. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 1 day.
On January 18, 1953, Shirley was united in marriage to James Floyd Hogan in Kansas City, Missouri.
Shirley was a supervisor in the Demonstration Department for Sam’s Wholesale Club, Grandview, Missouri until her retirement. Earlier she had been employed at Crest Thriftway, Belton, Missouri and House of Lloyd, Grandview. Shirley was a member of the Heartland Baptist Fellowship, Harrisonville. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, traveling, going to horse shows with Judie, fishing and overall just loved life itself. Shirley had lived in Belton before moving to Grandview in 1971.
Besides her parents, she was preceded death her husband, James Hogan, September 12, 1997; a son, Jimmie Hogan; two brothers, Harry and Larry and a sister, Rosie.
Shirley is survived by a son, Jackie Dean Hogan and wife Mary, Orville, California; two daughters, Jeannie Marie Place, McAlester, Oklahoma, Judie Ann Steele and husband Richard, Peculiar, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Imogene Hogan, Midway, Ohio; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Koger Cemetery near Oak Grove, Missouri.
