Steven Kent Leonard 27 of Blairstown, Missouri departed this life on Sunday, September 7, 2014.
Steven graduated from Sherwood High School in 2005 where he played football, basketball and track. He participated in many clubs and organizations in school. Steven blazed the trail of Scouting from Tiger Cub to achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with Cub and Boy Scout Troop 244. He attended Boy Scout Camp every year at H. Roe Bartle and rose to the rank of Tom-Tom Beater in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, with the tribal name of Boy who walks in Silence. Steven attended Central Missouri State University and then began his career at MMC while attending classes to become a journeymen plumber. He turned out of the program in May, 2011 and was a Foreman for MMC. Steven’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, any other outdoor activities, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Lucas United Methodist Church.
Steven is survived by his son, Andrew Kent Leonard of the home; his parents, Kent and Deb Leonard of Blairstown, Missouri; a sister, Deidra Leonard of Blairstown, Missouri; maternal grandmother, Wanda Cassell of Stockton, Missouri; Proceeded in death by his sergeant paternal Grandma Trudy Bachus. Aunts: Diana Willbanks, Tonya Niermann, Lorna Cassell, Thelma Underwood, Linda Swearengin, Clara Swearengin, Mary Moran and Sheri Long. Uncles: Roger Willbanks, Bradley Simmons, Billy Joe Johnson, Louis Simmons, Tony Underwood, and Les Swearengin, his brothers for life : Adam , Dustin, Gomer, Craig , Scott, Justin, Tim, and Travis and Biggin’s MMC brothers and His brothers in Local 8.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with interment at Urich Cemetery, Urich, MO.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Andrew Kent Leonard Education Fund.
