Thelma Frances Mills

Thelma Frances Mills, 85, a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother, passed into eternity on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Thelma was known for her love of family, for supporting their dreams, gifts, and events big and small. Her personality was one which always looked for the positive outcome, a calm amidst the storm, and loved to make each day worthy of goodness.
Thelma was born in Muscoda, Wisconsin on January 15, 1930, the daughter of Rev. Peter and Marie Eekhoff. She was a 1948 high school graduate in Ackley, Iowa. She then continued her education at Central College in Pella, Iowa. Thelma met the love of her life, Kay Mills, in 1952 at Buena Vista College where Kay was a student and Thelma worked as a secretary to the college. Kay and Thelma were married on June 30, 1954 and had three children, LaDonna (Mills) Marsh (deceased), Lyndon Mills (known as Nunpa), and Lanette (Mills) Taylor. Thelma worked as a librarian in many communities that she and Kay resided including Goldfield, IA – Ada, OK – Steelville, MO – Raymore, MO – Forsyth, MO – Bella Vista, AR, and retired at Foxwood Springs in Belton, MO in 2005.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Marie Eekhoff, her siblings Weirt, Herman, and Pete Eekhoff, her daughters (infant) Faith, and LaDonna.
She is survived by her husband: Kay Mills, son: Nunpa (Lyndon Mills), daughter: Lanette Taylor, son-in-laws: Bryan Taylor and Joseph Marsh, grandchildren: Kristin (Marsh) Song, Shannon Marsh, Austin Marsh, Lauren (Taylor) Carr, Renee Taylor, and Caleb Taylor and great-granddaughter: Keira Song. She is also survived by one sister, Stella Neymeyer of Aplington, IA.
Service of Celebration was held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1111 West Foxwood Drive, Raymore, MO on Sunday, December 27, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to AntFarm, Inc., a nonprofit organization founded by the son of Thelma Mills.
The final arrangements have been entrusted to Cass County Cremation Service, Harrisonville, Missouri.
