Tony Burton

LeRoy Alan “Tony” Burton of Garden City, Missouri was born May 30, 1932 near Adrian, Missouri the son of C.R. “Bunt” and Golda May (Drury) Burton. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 21 days.
On August 19, 1955, Tony was united in marriage to Dorothy Louise Eckart in Garden City.
Tony was employed by the City of Garden City in the yard maintenance department until his retirement. Earlier, he was employed at A & M and Underwood Quarries, Joe Chisler Well Drilling, Art Mainard Rock and Lime and Garden City Lumber Yard. Tony enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, playing the fiddle, joking around with friends and the Vigilantes Group. He was a lifelong area resident. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy on January 20, 2010; three brothers, Herb, Ronald “Jack” and Jerry Burton.
Tony is survived by three sons, Victor Burton (Rita) LaCygne, Kansas, Steve Burton (Christina) Archie, Missouri, Myles Burton (Debra) Garden City, Missouri; two daughters, Sue Ann Selvy, Garden City, Missouri, Karen Wise (DeWayne) Garden City, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles “Peanut” Burton, Warrensburg, Missouri, Dennis Burton, Clinton, Missouri, John Burton, Urich, Missouri, Jim Burton, Garden City, Missouri; two sisters, Sandra Keck and Marcella Vogeler both of Garden City, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 25, 2014 at New Covenant Fellowship, 30815 S. State Route F, Garden City, Missouri 64747 with interment in the Dayton Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.
Family received friends Monday at the church.
