Valerie Lee Kassen

Mrs. Valerie Lee Kassen of Harrisonville, Missouri was born February 5, 1965 in Smithville, Missouri the daughter of Jerry Fulton Sandy and Peggy Jo (Blankenship) Rick. She departed this life on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville at the age of 45 years, 4 months and 16 days.
On December 16, 1989, Valerie was united in marriage to Ronald William Kassen in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Valerie was a travel agent and owned and operated Access Cruise and Travel for the past 4 years in Harrisonville. Earlier she was employed as a secretary for Rigot Insurance Agency in Raytown, Missouri. Valerie was an active and faithful member of Heartland Baptist Fellowship and for many years, coordinated the audio and video services for her church family. She was a member of the National Association of Career Travel Agents. Valerie enjoyed travel, was an accomplished artist and sharing her faith with others. She will be remembered for her love for her family and that she had fought the good fight.
Valerie is survived by her husband, Ron Kassen of the home; her mother, Peggy J. Rick, Harrisonville, Missouri; her father and step-mother, Jerry and Lorretta Sandy, Palm Bay, Florida; two sisters, Vicki Staggs, Smithville, Missouri, Kim Murphy, West Palm Beach, Florida; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Heartland Baptist Church, 21203 E. 283rd Street, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
