Verna Mary Mills

Mrs. Verna Mary Mills of Garden City, Missouri was born March 8, 1926 in Cream Ridge, New Jersey the daughter of William A. and Etta C. (Young) Carroll. She departed this life on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 13 days. On March 6, 1946, Verna was united in marriage to William Paul Mills Jr. Verna was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville. Verna was kind, gentle and outgoing. She will be remembered for her kindness to animals, her garden and her love of the outdoors. Verna had lived near Harrisonville before moving to Latour, Missouri and then to Garden City. Besides her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her husband, William on January 17, 1991; five brothers, William, Edward, Frank, Robert and Donald. She is survived by two sons, Lamont Mills, Garden City, Missouri, Robert P. Mills and wife, Sheri, Lyndon, Kansas; her daughter, Patty Sutton and husband, Dennis, Butler, Missouri; five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, John Carroll, Independence, Missouri; other relatives and many friends. A Funeral Mass was held Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, Missouri. A graveside service will be held in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri, Monday, December 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.
