Vernon North West, of Garden City, Missouri was born May 4, 1940 in Brawley, California the son of Raymond F. and Hazel W. (Bouyear) West. He departed this life on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at his home surrounded by love and family at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 12 days.
On June 19, 1959, Vernon was united in marriage to Mary Helen Wood in Sligman, Missouri.
Vernon was an union carpenter and a member of the Local Union #61, Kansas City, Missouri for 32 years. He attended the Creighton First Baptist Church, was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 432, Kansas City, Missouri and was in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He loved raising cattle and donkeys and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Gant.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Mary West of the home; three sons, Vernon Ray West and wife Janet, Belton, Missouri, Mike West and wife Linda, Deepwater, Missouri and Kenneth West, Kansas City, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; a brother, Charles West, Englewood, Colorado; two sisters, Jeannette Couch, Belton, Missouri and Flo Humo, Kansas City, Missouri; other relatives and many friends. Funeral service were held Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Byler Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
