Mrs. Virginia Ruth Leslie, of Gunn City, Missouri, was born March 21, 1929 in Gunn City, Missouri, the daughter of Willie Tim and Sarah Ruth (Green) Snow. She departed this life Friday, January 5, 2007, Research Medical Center, Kansas City at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 14 days.
On September 3, 1950, Virginia was united in marriage to Winford Wayne Leslie at the Gunn City Christian Church in Gunn City, Missouri.
Virginia was a homemaker. Later she was a school teacher for Belle Plain, Dayton and Gunn City School Districts and then she was employed for the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of the Gunn City Christian Church for over 70 years, the church pianist for 68 years, a Sunday School teacher and a Deaconess for 60 years. Virginia's hobbies included playing the piano, gardening, quilting, sewing and cooking. She had been a lifelong resident of the Gunn City Community.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Leslie, Melvin and Ewing Snow and a sister, Nona Snow.
She is survived by her husband, Winford W. Leslie of the home; two daughters, Sherri Sherman, Blue Springs, Missouri and Julie Davison and husband Ronald, Spring, Texas; three grandchildren, Stephanie Sherman, Mitchell and Sarah Davison; a sister, Mary Lou Hoover, Kingsville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Gunn City Cemetery, Gunn City, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Gunn City Christian Church Memorial Fund.
