Virginia Sweitzer

Mrs. Virginia Louise Sweitzer of Harrisonville, Mo. was born August 1, 1921 in Columbia, Mo. the daughter of Bernard Daniel and Edith Rebecca (Hulett) Simon. She departed this life Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 17 days.

On September 4, 1948, Virginia was united in marriage to George Theodore Sweitzer Jr. in Columbia, Mo.
Virginia was employed as a supervisor for Mo. Department of Social Services, Harrisonville from the mid 1960's until her retirement in 1987. Earlier, before her marriage to George she was the assistant to the Registrar at the University of Mo., Columbia. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville. Virginia was a graduate of the University of Mo. where she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority and Delvers. She was a member of the Cass County Chapter of the University of Mo. Alumni Association and she had lived in Columbia before moving to Harrisonville in 1948.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bill and Bob Simon; 2 sisters, Edith and Mary Martha and an infant sister, Dorothy.
She is survived by her husband, George T. Sweitzer Jr. of the home; a son, George W. ""Wally"" Sweitzer and wife Brenda; a daughter, Rebecca S. Kraxberger and husband Michael H.; Mary Helen Lehman; 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Celia, Gabriel, James; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, B.D. Simon and Jack Simon; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Mass was held Monday, October 23, 2006 at Our Lady Of Lourdes church in Harrisonville, Missouri with burial at Orient Cemetery Harrisonville, Missouri.
