Warren Keith Kirk

Warren Keith Kirk, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born May 8, 1940 in Exeter, California the son of Roy Connor and Edith Ellgene (Hopper) Kirk. He departed this life Saturday, June 19, 2010 at his home in Harrisonville at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 11 days.
Warren graduated from Ukiah Union High School on June 13, 1958. After high school, he joined the Marine Corp in 1960 and was stationed at the Marine Corp Air Station base, El Toro, in Santa Ana, California where he learned to work on aircraft engines. Warren served in the Marine Corp, achieving rank of Corporal, until 1965 when he received an honorable discharge.
In 1966, Warren was a recruit for the Kansas City Police Department and graduated the police academy on January 27, 1967. On September 25, 1967, he was sworn in as a police officer and served on the KCPD for 10 years before leaving the service.
After leaving the KCPD, Warren worked in construction at several concrete companies through the Local #541 Union until he retired in 2002.
Warren was a husband to Penny Sue Kirk for 26 years. Together in their family were six children; Warren?s three children, Jack Kirk, Kelly (Kirk) Taylor and Jason Kirk; Penny?s three children, Kevin Cochran, Keith Cochran and Kurt Cochran. They have numerous grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Warren was a war buff and enjoyed reading books and watching videos about the World Wars. He enjoyed learning about different commander?s war tactics and the weapon?s that were used.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family will receive friends Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
