Wayne Nelson Scott of Garden City, Missouri was born June 12, 1932 in Appleton City, Missouri the son of Elbert Nelson and Gladys Arlene (Eberting) Scott. He departed this life on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 16 days.
On March 24, 1953, Wayne was united in marriage to Shirley Darlene Shumaker in Clinton, Missouri.
Wayne owned and operated Wayne Scott and Son Excavating, Harrisonville, Missouri until his retirement in 2011. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the United Methodist Church, Garden City. Wayne loved to travel and enjoyed going to California to see family, to Arizona with Shirley, to Branson, Missouri and to Midwest Old Thrashers in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He loved his family and attending his grandchildren's activities, watch western movies, playing pool and hosting a hog roast for his customers and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Lloyd Sanders and a brother, Jimmy Sanders.
Wayne is survived by his wife Shirley Scott of the home; two sons, Keith Scott and wife Marti and Kenny Scott and wife Linda and a daughter, Janet Burlingame and husband Chad all of Harrisonville, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Shelby Scott and wife Hazel, Clinton, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Cathy Onweiler, Lee's Summit, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with Military Honors following the service at the funeral home. Burial is in the Vansant Road Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.
