Charles Wilbur Moretine, of Garden City, Missouri, was born August 23, 1926 at Kingsville, Missouri, the son of Pete Martin and Mary Elizabeth (Colister) Moretine. He departed this life Sunday, August 28, 2005, at his home at the age of 79 years and 5 days.
On September 6, 1951, Wilbur was united in marriage to Rose Lavina Cumpton at Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Wilbur was owner - operator for Moretine Excavating, Garden City until his retirement in 1985. He was later employed at Cass County Road & Bridge Department, retiring in 1995. Earlier, Wilbur had owned and operated Dayton Auto Service, near Garden City and was also a farmer. He was a member of the Dayton Community Church near Garden City. Wilbur enjoyed gardening, cattle, cooking and watching western movies. He was a lifelong area resident.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose on May 29, 1983; four brothers, Edward, Perry, Richard and Martin; three sisters, Mary Wiley, Lorene Bryant and Virginia Palmer.
He is survived by his companion, Doris Winders, Garden City, Missouri; one son, Charlie T. Moretine and wife Kathy; two daughters, Rhonda Hendrickson and husband Stewart and Delberta Hicks and husband Cleve, all of Garden City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Chris, Cory, Anthony, Charlotte, Dustin, Michelle and Melissa; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Dayton Cemetery near Garden City.
