William Kenneth Wisdom

William Kenneth (Kenny) Wisdom, 90, passed away on June 24, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kenny was born October 25, 1931, in Urich, Missouri, to Ora W. Wisdom and Birdenia A. (Carver) Wisdom. He was raised on the family farm in Urich, Missouri. He graduated from Urich High School in 1950.

He worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the Army in 1952 and served until he was honorably discharged in February 1955. He then went on the road, driving his own truck. In 1964 he went to work for General Motors, Fairfax and retired from there in September 1987. He then came out of retirement and went to work for Compton Ridge Campground in 1988 and retired again in 2007.

In July 1963, he was introduced to the love of his life, Betty, by his cousins Bob and Dorothy Smith. They married on October 5, 1963, and it was at that time he started building his harem, as Betty brought three daughters into the marriage. They then went on to add three more daughters. They lived in Harrisonville, Missouri, until semi-retiring to Branson, Missouri, in 1988. In 2019 they came back north to Harrisonville.

Kenny enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing and watching the girls in their various activities and sports. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Kenny and Betty’s many adventures included traveling the United States, multiple trips to Hawaii and numerous cruises to such places as Cancun, and various islands in the Caribbean.

Kenny also enjoyed square and line dancing and was a member of the Hoot N Holler Square Dancers in Harrisonville and the Boot Kickers line dance group in Branson. He was a member of the UAW and the First Christian Church, Harrisonville.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Charles Wisdom.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty L. Wisdom of the home; his six daughters, Pam Willhoit and her husband Carl of Springfield, Missouri, Vickie Jones of Concordia, Missouri, Marcia Boaz and her husband Tom of Springfield, Missouri, Sandy Wisdom of Mission, Kansas, Linda Wisdom and Cindy Wisdom both of Harrisonville, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jenni Nichols (Clark) of Springfield, Missouri, Bill Jones (Leslie) of Merrit Island, Florida, Carrie Jones of Ft. Myers, Florida, Ben Mihlfeld of Durango, Colorado, Nick Mihlfeld, Springfield, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Truman and Olivia Jones of Florida, Coletun Wyant of Florida and Harper Mihlfeld of Missouri; other relatives and many friends .

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery, Creighton, Missouri.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
