William Robert Whelan II (Robby), 30, Harrisonville, MO, our loving son, brother, father and friend passed away on February 22, 2015 at his home
Robby was born on August 8, 1984 in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Harrisonville High School in 2004. He joined the Army in 2007 and was stationed at Fort Drum, NY where he worked as a Combat Engineer and did one combat tour in Afghanistan. Robby had many hobbies and was an avid pool player. He loved playing pool and would play every chance that he got. He played pool a few nights a week in a couple different leagues. He also loved spending time with family and playing with his son. He was always willing to help anyone and would give the shirt off his back to help someone out. He had a multitude of talents and loved doing anything that let him get his hands dirty, whether it be helping out around the farm or helping neighbors fix what needed to be fixed. He was well known as a practical joker and always enjoyed a good joke being played on someone.
Robby is survived by his son Brayden P. Roper-Whelan, of the home, his parents Terri and Tony Riley, Harrisonville, MO, Bill Whelan, Kansas City, KS, his brother and sister-in-law Patrick and Savannah Whelan, Whiteman AFB, MO, his sister Paige N. Whelan, Kansas City, KS, his grandparents Vern Jewell, Kansas City, KS, Gary and Beverly Marquis, Warsaw, MO, his aunt Tina M. Jewell, Kansas City, KS, his cousin Lee M. Gardner III, Kansas City, KS, his three nieces Madison, Caydence and Brayleigh, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015, First Baptist Church, 504 W. Wall Street, Harrisonville, Missouri. Interment in Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
Family will receive friends from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2015 at the church.
