Alex Crawford

Alexander John Crawford of Harrisonville, Missouri was born July 16, 1938 in Quincy, California the son of Alexander John and Della (Voyiatzes) Travelow.  He departed this life on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Kansas City Hospice House with his son by his side at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 2 days.

On December 2, 1971, Alex was united in marriage to Kathryn Sue Wehmeyer in Creighton, Missouri.

Alex was employed by Sprint since 1962. He started out as a lineman, moved to cable splicer to installation and repair and retired in 2003 as a service technician.  Later he was employed at Cass County Justice Center. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. A member of the National Street Rod Association and several other car clubs.  Alex enjoyed everything that had to do with cars, racing cars, going to car shows and car cruises. His joy was restoring and working on his 1940 Ford.  Alex had lived in California before moving to Harrisonville in 1946.

Besides his parents, Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy on March 26, 2019.

Alex is survived by his son, Alex Crawford of the home; 3 grandchildren, Myles, Evelyn and Jayne; his brother, Nick Crawford, Harrisonville, Missouri; 2 sisters, Kathy Webster, Harrisonville, Missouri and Blancha Painter, Lynchburg, Virginia; other relatives and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.  Inurnment will be in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House.
