Berle A. Andes

Emblem

Berle Arlan “Andy” Andes led a full and meaningful life in his role as a Christian, husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Born May 18, 1944, in Warrenton, VA to Clifford Lee Andes and Elouise Rusk Frederick.  He was the second of four children. Brother Olan Andes (Kentucky), Sister JaNielle (Florida) and brother Twyman (Virginia).

In May 1965 he joined the United States Airforce,  he was stationed at Whiteman AFB.  In the summer of 1965, he met the love of his life Beverly Ann (Riffle) Andes, who survives of the home.  They were married on September 8, 1967, and were happily married for over 56 years.   Of this union, two children were born.   Anita Andes (Edwards) (Chris, Abby Weber (Joshua), Andrew Edwards (Audrey Jansen), Alex Edwards.  Chris Andes, (Tonya (Knipp) Andes, Dominic Andes, and Gavan Andes.

Berle was happiest when he had a project to work on and was a man of many talents.  He loved working in his yard, gardening, and playing cards where he was a gracious winner and a gracious loser.  He grew many fresh vegetables and gave countless pounds of fresh vegetables to family and friends.  He loved old cars, refurbishing old toys, and all you can eat crab leg buffets.   He has quite the collection of old toys and many are displayed at the toy museum in Dyersville, IA.  He also completed many of these toys for friends and family.

Berle retired from general motors after 25 plus years.  He then went to work for T&W Steel where he “retired,” “unretired,” “retired,” and then “unretired” again.

Berle was a quiet man that liistened intently with a dry sense of humor and he liked it when people didn’t ask many questions.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by Fred and Glada Riffle (father in law and mother in law), four brother in laws (Raymond Riffle, John T Riffle, Bill Davis and Jim Riffle) and one sister in law (Barbara Riffle).

Memorials can be made out to Sycamore Grove Mennonite relief fund or Heart of Life Church.

Berle was “one of the good ones.”  He will be missed and loved, until we meet again.
