Betty Brown Jackson

Betty Fay Jackson, 91, was born on October 19, 1932 at the family home in Creighton, Missouri.  She was the daughter of Harold Logan Brown and Lucia Esther (Dale) Brown.  She departed this life on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Centerpoint Medical Center.

Betty grew up in Creighton, Missouri. Her early childhood years revolved around church, school, music, family, and friends.  Betty attended school in Creighton, graduating from Creighton High School in 1950.

Betty Fay attended Central Missouri State College (now UCM), receiving her degree in Bachelor of Music Education (piano) in 1954.  She continued her passion in music and later completed her Master of Arts degree.  Betty and Arlie Jackson, childhood sweethearts, were married on June 12, 1954 at the Creighton United Methodist Church and celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2014.  After 33 years she retired from the Independence School District in 1989.   She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, MSTA, Community Association for the Arts, and the Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church. 

Betty enjoyed playing piano and organ, sailing with Arlie,  sister Beverly, and brother-in-law Gerald, traveling, quilting, collectibles, playing cards and going to Red Hat.  She also enjoyed picking brackets for basketball tournaments, watching Hallmark, and old westerns.  She loved being with her family; looking forward to visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren always greeting them with a smile and hugs. 

Betty Fay was proceeded in death by her husband Arlie, her parents, and her sister Beverly.

She is survived by two daughters, Gaylyn (and Ron) Muirhead of Kansas City, MO and Lisa (and Phil) Schmalz of Parkville, MO; five grandchildren: Jared Muirhead, Calli (and David) Finnie, Christine Schmalz, Ashley (and Troy) Hull, and Jordyn Schmalz.  Betty is also survived by four great grandchildren: James, Jeremiah, Aria, and Hazel.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Sherwood Community Center, 208 D St., Creighton, Missouri 64739 with inurnment at Grant Cemetery, Creighton, Missouri.

Visitation will be held 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Sherwood Community Center, 208 D St., Creighton, Missouri 64739

Memorial contributions may be made to Sherwood Community Building, Grant Cemetery Association, or American Diabetes Association and send in care of Dickey Funeral Home, PO Box 432, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701.
