Brenda Sue Wilson of Harrisonville, Missouri was born on July 8, 1960, in McPherson, Kansas, to Ervin and Ena Lucille (Stewart) Uhrig. She passed away peacefully at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the age of 64.
She graduated from McPherson High School in 1978 and went on to earn an associate’s degree in paralegal from Wichita State University and then a bachelor’s degree in Clothing and Textile Design from Kansas State University in 1987. Most of her working career was spent making others’ homes beautiful with new blinds and drapes or custom painted walls and ceilings. Her artistic touch followed her wherever she went. The last 10 years were full of helping everyone she knew how to improve their lives through healthier living choices through the use of essential oils and kicking out toxins.
She was married to Royce A Wilson DVM on September 10,1988 in Oakley, Kansas. They had two wonderful children, Jenna and Dakota, when they lived in Glencoe, Minnesota in 1990 and 1991. They moved to Butler, Missouri in 1991 then on to Adrian, Missouri in 1995 and Harrisonville, Missouri in 2006. Everywhere she lived, she made friends easily and enjoyed getting involved with each church she became a part of. Her love for her Lord was evident in everything she did.
Her passions in life were Jesus first, then her family. Her granddaughters, Phoenix and Georgie, were especially close to her heart. Her love and care for others could be seen in everything she did. Her smile was infectious and paired with a twinkle in her eye. Family gatherings were always a priority to her and bringing special foods, sugar cookies or guacamole, was a must. She loved to travel, with most trips including family, to see God’s creation (except bugs) and sunsets were her favorite. She saw the best in everyone and tried to help them see that too.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Royce Wilson of Harrisonville, her daughter and son-in-law Jenna & Adam Kauffman, granddaughters Phoenix and Georgie of Harrisonville , her son and daughter-in-law Dakota & Taylor Wilson of Lindsborg, Kansas, a brother, Dwayne (Donna) Uhrig of Republic, Missouri, sisters Phyllis (Larry) Scherich of McPherson, Kansas, Myrla Walkley of Wichita, Kansas, and Janis (Larry) Sigle of McPherson, Kansas, sisters-in-law Sandy Uhrig and Janette (Steve) Williams as well as a sister-friend Betty (Mark) Herbert, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, who were all cherished and special to her as well.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ervin Uhrig, her mother, Ena Lucille Lakin, her brother, Verlyn Uhrig and “favorite aunt”, Rhoda Myers.
