Carolyn Jean was born on Monday, August 3, 1953 to Gerald & Opal (Herrell) Thomas. Carolyn was born in Harrisonville, MO and joined a sister Charlene and brother Gerald (GE) at home. Carolyn grew up in Creighton, MO and she became a big sister when brother Lacey was brought into the family.

Carolyn was united in marriage to Alvin Cumpton and to this union there were 2 sons, Calvin Lee Cumpton and Craig Elton Cumpton. Carolyn started working at Peterson Manufacturing Company on August 26, 1976. She started working on the assembly floor, and by 1977 she was working in the warehouse. Later she became the Supervisor over the warehouse. Carolyn dedicated 49 years to Peterson Manufacturing Company where she made many friends during those years.

On October 1, 1994 in Las Vegas, NV, Carolyn married Mark C McBeath. They were married for 31 years and 4 months. They shared the birth of 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Meeting Jesus was a long term goal for Carolyn and it was discussed a lot since her diagnosis of CJD on December 22, 2025.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her father Gerald Thomas, brother Lacey Thomas, sister-in-law Bonnie Thomas, brother Gerald (GE) Thomas, brother-in-law Ralph Fidler, grandma Minnie Thomas, grandparents Lewis & Nora Herrell and grandpa Bob Thomas.

She is survived by her husband Mark McBeath, her mother Opal (Thomas) Wiskur of the home. Two children, son Calvin Cumpton (Renee) of Garden City, MO; and son Craig Cumpton (Stephanie) of Lee's Summit, MO; Six grandchildren, Tyler Cumpton of Archie, MO; Lacy Cota (Toribio) of Archie, MO ; Cheyenne Morgan (Hunter) of Harrisonville, MO; Lucas Cumpton (Hannah) of Adrian, MO; Dalton Cumpton of Holden, MO; and Kate Cumpton of Lee’s Summit, MO. 9 great grandchildren Sofia, Giovani, Cooper, Colton, Elyzabeth, Lila, Andres, Casen and Hazel. Her sister Charlene Fidler, Creighton, MO plus many loving nieces and nephews, along with several great nieces and nephews; and lots of cousins. Also her dog (Bentley) and her mom’s cat (Matilda). Friends and family were very important to her.

Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026 at Heart of Life Church, Garden City, Missouri. 

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Heart of Life Church, Garden City, Missouri with interment at Grant Cemetery, Creighton, Missouri. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dayton Community Church and send in care to Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701.
