Beloved and honored father, grandfather, brother and friend Charles "Charlie" "Buster" William Adams left this world on November 29, 2018 after a long very hard physical struggle.
Charlie was born in Butler, Missouri on June 21, 1939 to Helen "Maxine" (Conner) Adams and John William Adams. Charlie had five sisters, Helen Maxon who preceded him in death, Linda Crain of Independence, MO, Georgia Jarman of Holden, MO, Sandra "Kay" Frederick who preceded him in death and Carol Hartnett of St. Louis, MO.
Charlie was raised in Kansas City, MO by his maternal grandparents John and Leona Conner and went to Paseo High. Charlie joined the Marine Corps on May 20, 1957 and reached the rank of Corporal. During enlistment, Charlie married Rose Zella Arnold November 14, 1959, Rose preceded him in death. Charlie was honorably discharged on May 19, 1961 and went to work for Country Club Dairy as a Driver. He then joined the Teamsters Union as a driver and over the years drove for Safeway, Consolidated Freightways, Montgomery Ward, where he served as union steward and Yellow Freight, from which he retired in 2003. There were four children born to the marriage and one family friend adopted by love.
Charlie leaves his son Mark Adams and wife Cathy of Harrisonville, Missouri; daughter Charlotte Reifsteck and husband Fred of Independence, Missouri; daughter Jill Warren and life partner Andrew Kline of Kansas City, Missouri; and son Russell Adams and wife Chrissy of Harrisonville, Missouri; and Frank Monroe of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Charlie loved and adored his grandchildren; he leaves behind Mark’s daughters Jessica Adams-Packer and husband Jonathon and Ashley Adams; Charlotte’s daughters Kaitlyn Carey and husband Daniel and Haley Reifsteck; Jill’s sons, Jacob, Joshua and Jeremiah Warren; and Russ’ daughter Nora Adams and Brandon Roberts and seven-month old son Charlie Mike. Charlie had a very large and loving extended family including many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews.
Your presence will always be among us, we miss you. You will never, ever be forgotten. Rest in peace, your pain and struggles have passed.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.
The family received friends Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the funeral home.
