Danny Lee Stapp

Danny Lee Stapp, 76, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away at home on Monday, May 18, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous 10-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was the devoted and loving husband of Donna Stapp.

Born on June 24, 1949, in Fordland, Missouri, Danny was the son of the late Daniel Green Stapp and Laura Marie (Sayers) Stapp. He was raised in the Springfield, Missouri, area, where he spent his younger years. Later in life, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by purchasing property and a home in rural Freeman, Missouri, where he lived for many years before making his final home in Pleasant Hill.

Danny dedicated his career to the transportation industry, working for Continental Trailways, PepsiCo Food Systems, Overnite Transportation, and eventually Yellow Freight, from which he retired in 2013. He was also a proud member of the Teamsters Union for most of his life.

Music was one of Danny’s greatest passions. He was a talented, self-taught musician who loved playing guitar with family and friends and often recorded music in his home studio to share with loved ones. He had a remarkable ability to learn nearly any instrument he picked up, including the fiddle and mandolin. Danny was also gifted at building and repairing guitars, a talent admired by many who knew him.

Above all else, Danny cherished time spent with the people he loved most. He especially enjoyed quiet moments with his beloved wife, Donna, whether sharing dinners at Jose’s Café or simply being together at home. He was also a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals and rarely missed a game. Danny treasured every moment spent with his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.

In addition to his beloved wife of more than 42 years, Danny is survived by his daughters, Dana Stapp, Cathy Gregory, Sherri Palmer, Elizabeth James, Missy Seid (Bill), Laura Ogletree (Tim), and Bonnie Berryman. He is also survived by his sister, LaRae Chainey (Joe); his brother, Charlie Stapp; and his sister-in-law, Neta Stapp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Green Stapp and Laura Marie (Sayers) Stapp; his brothers, Curtis Stapp, Leroy Stapp, and Leon Stapp; and his sisters, Virginia Sayers, Wanda Hedgepath, and Linda West.

A private inurnment will be held at Union Chapel Cemetery near Fordland, Missouri, on May 29, 2026 at 11:00 am.
