David Alan McKee of Harrisonville, Missouri was born August 6, 1958 in Butler, Missouri the son of Eugene David and Ruth Mae ( Brewster) McKee. He departed this life on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. Throughout his illness and until the end he was surrounded by love and family and many friends. He was 57 years, 6 months and 26 days old.
After 4 years of courtship, David was united in marriage to LeeAnn Anderson on August 8, 1979 in Harrisonville, Missouri. During their 36 years of marriage they very rarely spent a day apart. They were blessed with a son, Daniel David McKee on January 13, 1981 and a daughter, Tara Olivia McKee on May 1, 1983. They were the source of his greatest pride.
Throughout his life, David had the well-earned reputation of being a hardworking farmer, stockman and partner in The Roving Ridges Farm near Harrisonville. Prior to this full time work, he was a heavy equipment operator for McKee Quarries from 1976 until 1990. During those years, he was a member of the Operators Local #101Union. David was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church, the Cass County Cattleman's Association and was a county committeeman for the Farm Service Agency. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends around the dinner table, watching the Chiefs and Royals games and playing golf. For the past 11 years, he and LeeAnn had the good fortune of traveling together to many foreign countries making memories that will last forever. David will always be remembered as a devoted son, brother, husband, father and uncle. He was kind, smart, funny and generous to a fault.
He was preceded in death by his father, "Eaf" on March 5, 2010.
David is survived by his wife, LeeAnn of the home; his son, Daniel, New York, New York; his daughter, Tara, Kansas City, Missouri; his mother, Ruth and "big" sister, Debbie Walker (John) and her family all of Harrisonville, Missouri. Last, but not least, he leaves behind his best friend Romeo who, like the rest of us, will never be the same without David.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Harrisonville, Missouri. Burial will is in the Cleton-McKinney Cemetery near Harrisonville, Missouri.
