Dixie Louise (Jordan) Wright

Dixie Louise (Jordan) Wright, 89, of Garden City, was born October 8, 1935, in Cove Creek Missouri, the daughter of James Harold and Mamie (Garrison) Jordan. She died Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in her home surrounded by love and family.

On Oct. 19, 1963, Dixie was united in marriage to Edgar (Lee) Wright in Independence. 

Dixie worked at Western Auto in Kansas City and later employed as a nurse’s aid for many years, working at Cass Memorial Hospital, and Golden Years and ABC nursing homes. Dixie’s main job was raising her six children. Dixie was very proud that her and Ed had lived their Garden City home for 58 years, moving from Kansas City in 1967. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren. Dixie grew up in the Mayesburg and Ballard communities.

Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers, Charles Dean Jordan, Jerry Franklin Jordan, and Ellis Dale Jordan and grandson Christopher Jordan Ambrose and great granddaughter Hayden Dixie Harris. 

Dixie is survived by; two sons, John Wright of the home, Bill Wright and wife, Lana, Harrisonville; four daughters, Linda VanCleave and husband, David, Springfield, Debra Strain, Billings, Cindy Bathgate and husband, Jeff, Garden City, Cathy Richardson and husband, Chris, Harrisonville; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Peggy Sue Jamison, Wellsville, Kan.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2025 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

A graveside service with interment will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2025 at Medford Cemetery, Holden, Missouri.
