Donald Henley Land, 64, of Pleasant Hill, was born January 20, 1951, in Independence, Missouri, the son of John H. and Harriet (Henley) Land. He departed this life Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at his home.
Don was a 1969 Lee’s Summit High School graduate. He attended Northwest Missouri State University on a football scholarship.
Don had been employed as By HSC Industrial Coatings in Pleasant; prior to that he worked for Underwriters as an Auto Recovery Specialist. He loved NASCAR, Guns, History, and wrestling. He was an avid collector of anything unusual. Don especially loved to have a good time with family and friends. He was especially fond of his dog two-bits.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by two brothers, Gene Land (and Michelle) of Greenwood, and Chris Land of Pleasant Hill; three nephews, Ryan Land of Lake Winnebago, Sean (and Elena) Land Lee’s Summit, Preston and (Akeisha) Land of Lee’s Summit; two nieces, Deanne Land of Greenwood, and Jackie Land of Madison, Wisconsin; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Reverend Brandon Parks will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers are Chris Land, Gene Land, Jerry Land, Preston Land, Ryan Land, Sean Land, and Travis Land.
There will be no visitation. A party in his honor will held following services at the Pleasant Hill Memorial Building.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
