Donald “Don” Lynn Dyrden, of Urich, Missouri was born October 10, 1940 in Martinsburg, Missouri the son of Orville Lynn and Alice Juanita (Wilks) Dryden. He departed this life on Saturday, January 8, 2022 near Garden City, Missouri at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 29 days.
On August 14, 1961, Don was united in marriage to Loretta Judith (Judy) Fischer in St. Louis, Missouri.
Don was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam war and then reenlisted in the reserves and stayed there for the remainder of his 20 years. He was employed with Hight and Associates Land Title from the late 1960’s until he retired as Executive Vice President in 2012. In the late 1960’s, he also owned Dryden’s Used Furniture and Upholstery and Quickies Grocery in Garden City, Missouri. In the 1980’s, he bought and remodeled the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Harrisonville, Missouri. It quickly became the place to eat. In the early 1980’s, Don was known as “Mr. Cass County”. He spent his retirement years enjoying all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, doing the coffee shop rounds and playing pool with his good friend, Jim Bridges.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Dryden on October 3, 2019; a great-granddaughter, Daisy Sheets; two brothers, Charles and Jim Dryden; three sisters, Uvone, Faye and Evelyn.
Don is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Dickerson and husband Bruce, Urich, Missouri; 3 sons, Don Dryden Jr. and his girlfriend, Theresa Barnard, Garden City, Missouri, Ron Dryden and his girlfriend, Kim York, Creighton, Missouri, Dan Dryden, Urich, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Justin Dryden, Dr. Kristina Churchill, Michael Sheets, Loretta Rajsky, Michelle Fair and Jeremy Dryden; 4 great-grandchildren, Ember Lily, Olivia, Kimber and Emma; a brother, Larry Dryden, Pontoon Beach, Illinois; two sisters, Glenda Bullard, Auxvasse, Missouri, Sandra McDermott, Mexico, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri with Full Military Honors.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the funeral home.
