Donna Dean King, of Peculiar, Missouri was born November 4, 1941in North Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Donald T. and Rita D. (Reynolds) Wright. She departed this life on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore, Missouri with her former spouse of 32 years by her side at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 28 days.
On April 23, 1969, Donna was united in marriage to William V. King in Kansas City, Missouri.
Donna was a 1959 graduate of North Kansas City High School and went into training for nursing. She graduated from Trinity School of Nursing in 1963 and became a RN for Research Hospital, Kansas City in the Pediatrics for 6 years. She was later employed by Bates County Hospital for 12 years, then Cass Medical Center for 9 years, Visiting Nurse Association for 5 years, Foxwood Living Center as a charge nurse on evenings for 6 years. Her career as a RN spanned over 40 years until her retirement in 2008. Donna had lived in Cass County since July of 1974.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Wright.
Donna is survived by her former spouse, William King, Peculiar, Missouri; a son, Matthew King and wife Laura-Kate; two granddaughters, Annika and Genevieve all of Perth, Western Australia; a cousin, Teresa Land, Joplin, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
A Graveside services were held Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri.
The family received friends Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice Foundation.
