Donney Ray Moore

Donney Ray Moore of Belton, Missouri was born November 6th, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri to Elbert R. Moore and Iva (Covington) Moore. Donney was the youngest of four children. He earned his angel wings on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at his home.

Donney had a brain tumor at the age of 2 years old, and dealt with some form of cancer and dementia, never complaining not once though it all. When he was in his younger years as a teenager in the summertime, he would work laying sod for R. l. Hannah until he met Rhonda Pelsor and lived in Kansas City, Missouri, later being married. They had a son Adam Ross More born on November 29th 1981.

Donney and Rhonda’s marriage was short lived, and that’s when Donney went to work at Dexter Automotive, and there he met the love of his life Lena Lindsay in 1985, and they were united in marriage on May 10th, 1986. They made their home in Belton, Missouri and started their family, they were blessed with a son Michael Ray Moore born on January 10th, 1988, their precious baby was diagnosed with a brain tumor and earned his angel wings on December 12th, 1990. Michael’s life was brief and shattered their hearts, they leaned on each other through their grief and their love grew stronger and never ending for each other.

Donney continued to work at Dexter which later became Ciba-Geigy and then Parker American where he worked for 46 years and retired in 2023.

Donney loved sports of all kinds, but football was his passion. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, he never missed watching a game. Donney also loved the Kansas City Royals, these were his 2 favorite teams even though he truly loved all sports. Just recently he went to a Royals game, and he caught one of the balls, right in the chest and he laughed and talked about how he caught the ball, he loved it! Donney also loved to bowl, and was very good at it, he belonged to a league.

Donney also loved the casino, I Deborah (Sister) asked him if he could do just one thing he loved to do, what would you do? He said go to the casino/gamble a big smile on his face. Donney went on the adventure to the casino and had a blast.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son Michael Ray Moore, Granddaughter Lily Moore and his wife Lena Moore.

Donney is survived by his son Adam Moore (Becca) of Belton, Missouri. A brother John Moore (Amy). 2 sisters Elizabeth Roberts of Harrisonville, Missouri and Deborah Bourland of Belton, Missouri. 5 grandchildren Ada, Mia, Ian, Eli and Liam.

Donney will be missed tremendously; he was our hero and inspiration to everyone he met.
