Doris Gilkeson

Doris Marie (McCulloh) Gilkeson, age 98, was born October 27, 1925 and graduated to Heaven August 12, 2024 at Crown Rehab & Healthcare Center Harrisonville, MO. The daughter of Emily Gladys (Pollard) McCulloh and Harold McKinley McCulloh, Doris was born at home on the farm at Dayton, MO. A lifelong resident of Cass County, MO she graduated from Garden City, MO High School in 1943 where she met her husband, George Burns Gilkeson. They were married April 22, 1944 and were married for 60 years until his untimely death in 2004.

Doris and George had three children: Jerald Wayne Gilkeson (Donna); Emily Ann Cook (Bill); and Judy Marie Winter (Jerry). Doris was a devoted farm wife, mother and grandmother. All who knew her held her in high regard as a Proverbs 31 woman. Her hospitality and cooking skills were enjoyed by a multitude. She was always serving, working hard, and devoted to her Lord Jesus Christ and a member of the Harrisonville Community Church.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, brother Joe McCulloh, sister Ailene McCulloh, a great-granddaughter Savannah Grace Filer, and son-in-law Jerry Winter. Doris dearly loved her grandchildren: Jodie Lynn Huston (Bob); Mike Cook (Fran); Jason Winter (Jennifer); Seth Gilkeson (Andrea); Kelly Filer (Chris); Laith Gilkeson (Beth); and Jeanne Middaugh (Chad); her 23 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great -grandchildren, with another on the way. All loved her in return.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2024 at Harrisonville Community Church, Harrisonville, Missouri. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2024 at Harrisonville Community Church, Harrisonville, Missouri. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonville Christian School and sent in care of Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701.
