It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share the passing of our father, Eddy Lee Rhoads.
Eddy was born on April 25, 1954, in Chanute, Kansas, to Sheridan Rhoads. and Jeanetta (McCrate) Rhoads of Humboldt, Kansas.
He was married to Lynn (Mansell) Rhoads, and together they raised three children: Chris Rhoads, Heather Anderson, and Jenni Reiley.
Our dad worked hard throughout his life, spending many years in the oil field business. His career took him across both land and offshore operations, where he worked alongside and around some of the biggest names in the industry, including Red Adair and, later, Halliburton in Duncan, Oklahoma.
When we were young, Dad moved our family from South Texas back to Kansas after he was injured in an offshore accident. Despite the challenges that followed, he continued to work hard and provide for his family.
Dad believed in working, learning, and bettering himself. While raising his family and working, he continued his education, attending Pittsburg State University and Friends University. He later worked for the State of Kansas before retiring.
Our dad was a hardworking man who spent his life providing for his family and doing what needed to be done. His experiences in the oil fields, the people he met, the places he traveled, and the lessons he learned along the way became an important part of who he was and the legacy he leaves behind.
For us, he was simply Dad. We will remember him not only for the work he did, but for the life he lived, the sacrifices he made, and the memories he gave us.
Dad also had a heart for helping others. He was always willing to lend a hand and help someone in need, even when he himself was going through difficult times. That generosity and willingness to help others was simply part of who he was.
His passing leaves a tremendous hole in our family. Although our hearts are heavy, we are thankful for the years we had with him and for the memories that will remain with us.
My sisters and I are especially thankful that Dad had a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We take comfort in knowing that he is now with Him, free from pain and suffering.
We would also like to sincerely thank the nurses and caregivers who cared for our father during his final days. Your compassion, kindness, and care meant more to our family than words can express.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Rhoads of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; his brother, Rocky (Gayle) Rhoads of Beaumont, Texas; his son, Chris (Vicky) Rhoads of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his daughter, Heather Anderson of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and his daughter, Jenny (Jason) Reiley of Kansas City, Missouri. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories and love he gave them.
He was proceeded in death by both his parents and his sister Jean Ann (Rhoads) Schields of Chanute, Kansas.
Dad, you will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
We're thankful you were our father.
Until we meet again.
