Elaine Ramsey

Elaine Ramsey, 74, of Harrisonville MO, passed away in her sleep and went on to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on November 8th, 2022. She was born on November 29th, 1947 in Kansas City, MO to Edward and Pearl (Parker) Pedigo. At an early age, Elaine accepted Christ as her personal Savior. In 1960, her family moved to Cleveland, MO, where Elaine graduated High School at Cass Midway in 1965.

Later, Elaine married Ernie Ramsey in October 1965, who she had known since grade school. They made their home near East Lynne, MO on the Ramsey family farm. They were blessed with two children, Robin and Scott. Elaine made sure they grew up knowing how much Jesus loved them and taught them by example how to serve Him. Elaine loved being an active member of her church, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Many Sunday mornings, she would get up extra early to gather fresh flowers from her yard to make beautiful arrangements for the communion table at church. Elaine lived for sharing the word of her Lord every day, in any way that she could.

Elaine was a homemaker until 1982 when her and husband Ernie opened their long-time family business, Ramsey’s Feed, where they served the Harrisonville community for over 30 years. Ramsey’s quickly became known to have the best flowers and garden plants in town because Elaine spent countless hours tending to them always. Elaine was never shy of noticing when a customer was having a bad day and asking to pray with them. She was a bright light to many on the darkest of days. Elaine read her bible daily and had a lengthy prayer journal that included many friends, neighbors and customers.

In her spare time, Elaine loved spending time in her peaceful backyard, with her many flowers and feeding her wild birds. Her sweet little Pug dogs over the years were her absolute joys and brought her much companionship. She loved spending time with her grandkids and making memories with them that they will never forget. Elaine always had homemade baked cakes or sweets waiting for company in her kitchen. She loved to share with others and was always looking for ways to make those around her have a smile on their face.

Though her battles with Alzheimer’s and dementia the past decade took away many things about her including her ability to speak, Elaine never lost her kind heart, her love for being around her family or her desire to be surrounded by the things she cherished most in this life.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her daughter Robin Hasenyager (Bruce) and her son Scott Ramsey (Lynette), 4 grandchildren Jamie Hasenyager (Steffan Schibi), Haidyn Ramsey (Holly), Mairiah Delmont (Devin), Matthew Hasenyager, one great grandson Hudson Ramsey, sister Leanna Bishop, a brother Mack Miles, her caretaker Lindsey McCown and many other friends and family.
