Elizabeth May Ray

Mrs. Elizabeth May Ray of Overland Park, Kansas was born May 1, 1928 in Creighton, Missouri the daughter of Ernest and Eula Irene (Sheets) Chapman. She departed this life on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Blue River Rehabilitation Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 81years, 6 months and 26 days.
On February 23, 1959, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Marion Dillon Ray in Clinton, Missouri.
Elizabeth was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith. Elizabeth enjoyed being with her family, playing bingo, working puzzles of all kinds, cooking, collecting recipes and fishing. She had lived in Creighton before moving to Kansas City.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion (Dillon) on July 6, 1996; a granddaughter, Candice Ray; a great-granddaughter, Shelly Cravens; a step-grandson, George Rosales and her brother, Earl Chapman.
She is survived by a son, John D. Ray I, Kansas City, Missouri; a step-son, Oakley Ray, Cotesville, Nebraska; two daughters, Florence Joanne Rosales, Walker, Missouri, Goldena E. Curry, Overland Park, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Jason, Matthew, John II, Jennifer, Jessica, Kathy, Dennis, Mike, Randy and Alisa; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; two sisters, Mary Quillin, Harrisonville, Missouri, Clara Lee Scott, Olathe, Kansas; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
