Mrs. Lena Faye George of Garden City, Missouri was born November 12, 1924 in Sulphur, Oklahoma the daughter of Rev. Abel B. and Selina (James) Brown. She departed this life on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 1 day.
On, April 25, 1953 Faye was united in marriage to Loyal George in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Faye was a homemaker and earlier was employed as a secretary for the Sun Flower Army Ammunition Plant, DeSoto, Kansas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Garden City and the Easter Cantata Community Choir for several years. Faye was a Native American being a member of the Chickasaw Nation in Ada, Oklahoma. She was a former 4-H leader and was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She had moved to Garden City in 1965.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Ruby, Malsie, Gladys, Lois and Julia and an infant brother, Donald.
She is survived by her husband, Loyal George of the home; three daughters, Jan Gaylene George and Loy Ann George both of Belton, Missouri, Susan Rene` Farr and husband, Rev. Bob of St. Charles, Missouri; two grandchildren, Joe and Amy; a sister, Leona Farve, Ardmore, Oklahoma; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation. A memorial service was held Monday, July 17, 2006 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at the funeral home.
