On June 1st, 2025, Francis passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loving family. He was 94 years old and had been battling many types of cancer for many years.
Francis was born on February 2, 1931, in Attawaugan, CT, to Joseph and Eva Thibeault. He was a strong, disciplined man who served six years in the Army and thirteen years in the Marines. He was a rifle marksman who served in the Korean War and received numerous medals and commendations. He was a lifelong member of the 3118 VFW Post in Pleasant Hill, MO. It was his honor to serve on the Honor Guard detail, cook Saturday morning community breakfasts, and participate in other VFW activities.
Francis was a devout Catholic. He moved to Garden City, MO, from CT when his place of employment, Percel's Printing Shop, closed its doors for good and he took early retirement.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lily M. Thibeault, his parents, and his four siblings. He leaves behind sons Francis Thibeault Jr. and his life long partner Mary Macentire, of Warrensburg, MO; William and Tammy Thibeault of Pleasant Hill, MO; daughters Sheila Lucente of Chattanooga, TN; and Helen and Steven Gray of Putnam, CT. He had thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed his daily walks around town, making friends along the way. He will be missed dearly.
