Mrs. Gayla Faye Cameron of Archie, Missouri was born August 3, 1941 near Archie the daughter of John William and Maude Elizabeth (Switzer) Barnard. She departed this life Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 16 days.
On September 3, 1960, Gayla, was united in marriage to Donald Ray Cameron at the Austin Baptist church, Austin, Missouri.
Gayla was employed for 14 years as a dietician for Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville, Missouri until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Archie and earlier for many years was an active member of the Unity Church. Gayla was a 1959 graduate of Archie High School and later attended William Jewel College, Liberty, Missouri. Gayla enjoyed her children and grandchildren and the many meals shared between them. She had said her children and grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Gayla had a love of music and enjoyed writing, swimming, playing piano and her artwork. She was a lifelong area resident of the Austin Community near Archie.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ted, Jimmy and Buddy Barnard; her sister, Avis Thomas; her sister-in-law, Dolly Barnard and a nephew, Steve Brown.
She is survived by her husband, Don Cameron of the home; three sons, Shane Cameron and wife, Terri, Harrisonville, Missouri, Dale Cameron and wife, Vicky, Archie, Missouri, Danny Cameron, Archie, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, Alexa and Eliza; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the United Methodist Church, Archie, Missouri with burial in the Austin Cemetery near Archie.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Church Memorial Fund.
