Genevieve Creighton

December 22, 1919 — February 23, 2013

Genevieve Lear Creighton of Raymore, Missouri was born December 22, 1919 the only child of Carl McKinley and Dora Emma (Lear) Coover. She departed this life on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Foxwood Springs Living Center, Raymore at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 1 day.
On January 7, 1940, Genevieve was united in marriage to Melville Rodgers Creighton in Urich, Missouri.
Genevieve was a 1938 graduate of the Urich, Missouri High School. While Melville served his country in World War II, she was employed as an inspector of cartridges at the Lake City Ordinance Plant and then as a tool grinder at the Pratt & Whitney Plant until the end of the war. In 1953, when Melville took a job with State Farm Insurance, she became his secretary and enjoyed accompanying her husband to the companies National Conventions at different cities in the U.S. and in 12 European Countries. Genevieve was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church, Raymore, the Urich 4-H Baby Beef Club, Delta Sigma Epsilon Sorority, American Legion Auxiliary and Lions Club. In 1994, they moved from Harrisonville to the Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melville Creighton on August 17, 2012.
She is survived by her 1st cousin, Betty Clay Lefman, Kansas City, Missouri; her 2nd cousins, Donna Anne Harrison, Shafter, California, Dorothy Lutton, Fresno, California and friends.
Graveside services were held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Urich Cemetery, Urich, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Hendrick Cemetery Association.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
